Jelzés a világba

A Tett internacionális számát ezzel a hitünkkel adjuk át barátainknak.
Nemcsak abszolut értékü művészetet hozunk, hanem fájó elevenségünket is jelezni akarjuk az ájuló magyar ugarról.

Signal to the World

Some of us Budapest fellows do not believe in miracles and do not believe in the cosmicality of war. We know our minds and now, with open eyes, we are raising our voices to the East, West, North and South and the people there whose red greetings we have heard here.
There are lands where even today’s bloody frenzy has not set the wheels of thought turning, as if everything had collapsed upon itself, and our land is one. In these lands, people cannot see themselves or their neighbours or the rest of humanity, ardent young armies tear each other apart on foreign fields, certain death biting away thousands of them at their every step, but they just drift on and on, stupefied objects, and even praise could kill them. Somewhere far away, all over the place, their lives are draining away, while at home everyone else is sleeping, or hiding, or stealing, or swindling, or making profits. But everything is still in order, my God! At every point of the compass, little red lamps have lit up for a meeting. For us there may be no Rollands, Hall Cains or Liebknechts lighting the way for us, and we have a writer with military decorations, but we also have a painter puts “red devils” into attack on his canvases and we have a politician who salts beef for the good of the homeland. We have been dancing our dance for two years. In other countries governments have fallen, the imprisoned have come out as saints, blood has flowed against blood to staunch the carnage, while all we have yet been capable of is to consume ourselves. But lo, the head is growing heavy, and the sinews are breaking. We believe that there are among us, in this country, those who want to give voice to their story, and on the slim twenty-four pages of this journal we embrace before them those whose fate is mixed up with our own, humans like us, innocent and cultured.
It is with this belief we offer up to our friends the international edition of A Tett.
We bring art of absolute value, and we want to proclaim our sorrowing vitality from the bewildered wasteland of Hungary.
